The client is a highly trusted academic authority in the provision of advanced software, business, and creative courses online. Based in the US with an international student enrolment nearing 5 million, the client's e-learning portal is considered as one of the most popular online learning portals in the world. It caters to the basic and advanced learning needs of students by providing a vast repository of high-quality video tutorials, which are taught by industry experts.
SITUATION – BUSINESS NEED
The following business requirement brought the client to Video Caddy:
- The client sought a video editing company to edit a range of its newly-produced educational video tutorials.
- Edit 70 to 80 hours of educational video.
- Edit the videos at two levels of requirement – basic and advanced.
- The video editing should match the client's pre-established editing and template standards, which were provided.
- Key requirements of the video editing included improving the visuals and the overall video impact by removing rephrases and deleting inadvertent mistakes by tutors during the lecture delivery.
THE CHALLENGES
We faced a few challenges while working on this educational video editing project:
- All the video footages to be edited were not received at one time.
- Understanding tutor's language during certain parts of the lectures was a bit challenging, particularly when the subject matter was complex, such as a topic on Astronomy.
- Edit the videos at two levels of requirement – basic and advanced.
- The video editing should match the client's pre-established editing and template standards, which were provided.
- Key requirements of the video editing included improving the visuals and the overall video impact by removing rephrases and deleting inadvertent mistakes by tutors during the lecture delivery .
THE SOLUTIONS
We faced a few challenges while working on this educational video editing project:
- Creation of a video editing checklist with benchmarks on Watermarks, Slides, Markers, and Bug Fixing procedure.
- 2-minute trial editing was sent for customer's initial approval.
- The team of 4 video editors with 1 quality analyst was subjected to a week's training to understand the client's unique requirements in the educational context.
- Adobe Premier CC 2014 was the software used to edit the videos.
